Mary Amos for
Promising Pages

All children need books in their homes in order to grow academically, but there are an estimated 60,000 children in the Charlotte area living in a book desert. Promising Pages collects new and donated books and distributes them to students and organizations, with the goal of eliminating the book desert and providing a free resource to those that need it most.
If you have books to donate, please drop them by my house. You may leave them on the bench on the side porch. Thanks!

Daryl Pitts for

South Meck High Women's Lacrosse

The state of North Carolina recognized men’s and women’s lacrosse as a varsity sport eligible for booster club funding back in 2008. However, since 2008, CMS has refused to do so leaving all high school lacrosse programs in CMS to 100% fund themselves. As a Club Team that operates under the NCHSAA guidelines, we rely on generous local donations and sponsorships to cover our operating costs. South Meck High school women players pay annual dues that cover their uniforms and equipment. Coaches volunteer their time for free. You never hear of this having to be done in football, soccer, baseball, basketball, track, golf, etc. Home game expenses are ~$500 per game. The team has to pay the following per game: Stadium & field rental, Referees, EMT, Security Guard (off-duty CMPD), Stadium Manager, Custodian. Local businesses please consider being a sponsor for a full or half game. These highly competitive girls truly appreciate it. Please contact Daryl Pitts, Fundraising Chair with questions.
